Boy, it’s been a while since I checked in here. I’ve spent this cold cold winter making necklaces, cooking and baking, reading, walking whenever I could, and streaming some good shows.

But now we’re engaged in a frustrating house-hunt. The market is insane: you have to immediately decide whether to make an offer after one quick visit. Asking price is a joke, most houses now sell for $40,000 over that and many go for up to $150,000 over that. Decent houses sell in one day, and some sell sight unseen before they even open to tours. We’ve bought a dozen houses between us over the years, but we’ve never seen anything like this. We’re still hopeful, but man–this is really challenging.

It’s finally warming up a bit here, which is helping everyone’s mood. Covid, frigid weather, the political mess in the US, and the war in the Ukraine are a lot for everyone to cope with. Green grass, leafy trees, and blooming gardens will sure help.

Here are some examples of my latest work, all in my Gemnorde Etsy shop. It’s been terrific fun to create these!

  1. Gayle,, your creations always take my breath away. They are splendid beyond words. Interesting about this housing situation. The same is happening here. It started with covid. Now two years later houses that sold $600,000 are now over a million dollars. You cannot buy a house in Ladner under $900,000. When you consider that this is originally a farming /fishing village many houses are really not worth very much. Good luck with your house hunting. Cheers Virginia
