For one day. It’s melting fast.
Last night it snowed and once again we brought out our wooliest socks, had a fire in the fireplace, and hugged mugs of hot tea–the return of Hygge weather in the north. Truthfully, I’m tired of the media hype around the Scandinavian practice of Hygge. Up here, coziness is more about survival not luxury. Our houses are sturdily built but at -30 even the warmest room has chilly corners. Warm throws, wool socks, hot drinks, and heavy sweaters are simply our norm during winter.
It rained for a few hours before turning to snow and we really needed the moisture. I’ve started working the garden beds and they were like dust. Here are some new daffodils I planted last fall enjoying the refreshing shock of snow.
