Amo tomatoes

Yup, these were waiting for us when we got back–Cherokee Purples, Sun Gold Cherry, and some variety of red I can’t remember.

It’s fun to taste the different flavors of each of these. Last night we made a quickie salad out of grilled corn, avocado, these tomatoes, feta cheese, Bermuda onion, and our own vinaigrette. We couldn’t stop eating it! A neighbor just gave us a truckload of kale, which we’ll use up in a week, and I harvested basil this morning for my husband’s second batch of pesto. This time we’re taking half the pesto and adding canned artichoke hearts. I saw this kind of artichoke basil pesto in Colorado, where they’re selling jars of locally grown condiments and vegetables in the grocery store. Tempting…
