Wine box planters

Just a quick look at the wine box planters I’m using for herbs, lettuce, and green onions this year.Very vintage looking, eh? We finally got the two benches for the deck–now I have to waterproof them. But you can see how well the plants are doing. These boxes cost about $5 each from a local wine store–get boxes for 12 bottles so they are deep enough. They age beautifully to a weathered patina. Line them with substantial black plastic leaf bags (I just stapled them to the inside to keep them in place)–them put in good soil and seedlings. Added bonus–you’ll probably get box lids too which you can use for all kinds of crafty purposes!
